2027: INEC-Recognised PDP Not the Original Party – Umar Sani

 

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Sani, has claimed that the faction currently recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is not the party's original structure.

Sani made the assertion while commenting on the leadership crisis within the opposition party ahead of preparations for the 2027 general elections. According to him, the PDP has deviated from the principles and structure established by its founding members.

He argued that the leadership currently acknowledged by INEC does not truly represent the authentic identity of the PDP, insisting that the party has undergone significant changes due to internal disputes and power struggles.

The party chieftain called on members to remain committed to restoring unity and preserving the values upon which the PDP was founded. He stressed that resolving the lingering leadership crisis is essential if the party hopes to present a formidable challenge in the 2027 elections.

Sani also urged party stakeholders to embrace dialogue and reconciliation to prevent further divisions that could weaken the PDP's chances at the polls.

His remarks come amid ongoing disagreements within the opposition party over its leadership and future direction, as political actors continue to position themselves ahead of the next general election.
