EFCC Clarifies Only Selected Osun State Bank Accounts Were Frozen

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed reports suggesting that all bank accounts belonging to the Osun State Government were frozen, clarifying that only specific accounts linked to its ongoing investigation were affected.

The anti-graft agency explained that the action was taken as part of a lawful investigation into alleged financial irregularities and did not involve every account operated by the state government.

According to the EFCC, essential government operations have not been disrupted, as several accounts remain active to enable the state to continue carrying out its official responsibilities.

The commission urged the public to disregard misleading reports claiming that all of Osun State’s bank accounts had been frozen, stressing that its actions were guided by due process and in line with its mandate to investigate financial crimes.

The EFCC also reaffirmed its commitment to conducting transparent and professional investigations while ensuring that legitimate government activities are not unnecessarily hindered.
