Soludo’s Wife Disowns Alleged Women’s Gathering in Her Honour, Describes It as Fraud
AWKA, Nigeria – The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has distanced herself from an alleged plan to organize a gathering of women in her honour in one of the state's communities, describing the initiative as a scam.
In a statement issued through her office, Mrs. Soludo warned members of the public to disregard any invitations, messages, or requests associated with the purported event, stressing that she neither authorized nor endorsed such an arrangement.
She explained that individuals behind the scheme were attempting to deceive unsuspecting members of the public by falsely using her name and office for personal gain. She urged women, community leaders, and residents to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to the fraudulent exercise.
Mrs. Soludo emphasized that all official programmes involving her office are communicated through verified government channels and authorized representatives. She advised anyone seeking confirmation about activities linked to her office to verify such information through official sources.
The Governor's wife also called on security agencies to investigate those responsible for the false claims and ensure they are brought to justice to prevent similar incidents in the future.
She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting women, children, and vulnerable groups across Anambra State through legitimate empowerment and development initiatives, urging the public not to allow fraudsters to exploit their goodwill.
Residents were encouraged to report any suspicious individuals or groups using the names of government officials to solicit money or organize unauthorized events, as authorities continue efforts to protect citizens from scams and impersonation.
