Fubara Responsible for Rivers Political Crisis, Not Wike – Ex-PDP Chairman Ewor

PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria – A former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Robinson Ewor, has attributed the lingering political crisis in Rivers State to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, insisting that former Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, should not be blamed for the conflict.

Ewor said claims that Wike is solely responsible for the political turmoil in the state are misleading, arguing that the crisis stems largely from Governor Fubara's handling of political relationships and governance since assuming office.

According to the former PDP chairman, Wike played a significant role in Fubara's emergence as governor and had expected continuity in governance and party unity. He maintained that the breakdown in their relationship resulted from political disagreements that escalated over time.

Ewor urged political stakeholders and supporters to avoid inflammatory statements capable of worsening tensions, stressing that the interests of Rivers State should take precedence over personal or political rivalries.

He also called on Governor Fubara and other political leaders in the state to embrace dialogue and reconciliation as a means of restoring stability and ensuring effective governance for the benefit of the people.

The Rivers political crisis has continued to generate national attention, with divisions within the state's political structure affecting governance and party activities. Despite several reconciliation efforts by party leaders and other stakeholders, tensions between the opposing camps have persisted.

Political observers believe that sustained dialogue and compromise among key actors remain essential to resolving the impasse and promoting peace and development in Rivers State.
